I finished up at Boehringer-Ingelheim in Danbury a few weeks ago. BI is truly a great place to work (excellent work environment ie. high-end laptop, nice cubicle; management with integrity; world class technical team; etc.). I learned a lot about plant maintenance and increased my knowledge of abap including a bit of workflow. On a personal note my parents lived near by, so it was wonderful to spend quite a bit of time with them.

Currently, I am working on a 'phase 2' of an implementation for Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY. The first project is a highly complex CO/PS/DMS enhancement which is really interesting. This assignment is semi-local for me as it's about a 2 hour drive from home, though I will be working in other LM locations from time to time (this week I'm in Rockville, MD). One frustration with LM is that they block gmail - so any replies from me will be in the evening.

In other exciting news a local university has asked me to teach a course in ABAP. It's a daunting task, yet there are so many benefits. I look forward to the challenge.

I finished up at Johnson & Johnson last month. I increased my knowledge of FICO and learned the principles of working in a validated pharmaceutical environment. It was a great experience working for a top notch corporation. However, it did take a while to get used to driving in NJ (no left turns and all gas stations are full service).

Now I am working on a plant maintenance implementation for another pharmaceutical company, Boehringer-Ingelheim, in Danbury, CT. I should be able to work on interfaces involving IDOCS and XI. A side benefit of this project is that the location is only 1 hour away from my parents house, so I'll be able to spend some time with them.

I rolled off of the Lifetime Brands project last month. I strengthened my knowledge of MM, FI, SD, and smartforms including learning some nifty tricks from the lead developer. A nice side benefit of working there was receiving samples of their products. I'll never need another ice cream scoop again. The team is very competent and I wish them the best of luck with future projects.

Now I am working on a multifaceted project in Bridgewater, NJ for Johnson & Johnson. It is looking like an intense FICO job and I am up for the challenge. Unfortunately I do not think I'll be getting any shampoo samples on this gig (or what ever else J&J makes).

I wrapped up with ITT Industries in November. I strengthened my knowledge of FI/CO and MM and also received an introduction to XI. I really enjoyed my time there working with a really sharp team.

In October I took a quasi break to participate in a Group Study Exchange (GSE) sponsored by Rotary International. Five eclectic individuals from Central New York (I was one of them) spent the month traveling throughout Scotland to learn about the culture. My vocational emphasis was on SAP and I learned that the big oil companies (BP, Conoco Philips, Exxon Mobil, etc.) dominate the scene there as the North Sea is rich in oil. GSE is an incredible program and I recommend any young professionals (ages 25-40) to apply. All expenses except for personal souvenirs are covered!

Now I am working close to the Big Apple. I am helping Lifetime Brands in Westbury,NY (Long Island) to implement SAP. They acquired a company that already had SAP so now they plan to bring all of their divisions online. I am involved in interfaces,conversions, and reports within FICO, SD, and MM.

I finished up with Black & Decker in Towson, MD in March. It was a good experience strengthening my knowledge of MM, dialog programming and table controls. I was also able to spend some time exploring Baltimore and Washington DC. There is so much to do and a lot more I would like to check out.

Now I am working on a project close to home (Syracuse). ITT Industries in Seneca Falls, NY is implementing the latest version of SAP, ECC 5.0, and is planning to go live at the end of May. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands dirty with XI and WBI, however, at least I’ll have another implementation under my belt.

I finished up with Rolls Royce in Indy just before Thanksgiving. It was a good experience and I definitely learned quite a bit about HR and payroll. Unfortunately I did not get a discount on a Rolls vehicle. Actually RR does not manufacture the cars anymore; now they make jet engines.

After Thanksgiving I started working with Black & Decker in Towson, MD (close to Baltimore). I am helping them with phase 2 of their Global Trade Management implementation. GTM involves a tight integration of SD and MM.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I started working at Rolls Royce in Indianapolis for a short term contract. They are converting from a Peoplesoft HR system to SAP. This will allow me to strengthen my HR chops. The contract will likely be extended due to the amount of work. I started last week and so far so good.
