I wrapped up with Boehringer-Ingelheim in CT at the end of 2009. I basically worked on several cleanup tasks including fixing a report, building an interface function, trouble shooting a file cleansing program. I also made changes to a MVC Arinso solution for Travel and Expenses; including modifying methods and business server pages.

The SAP market this year continues to be challenging, though every so often there are spikes in demand. Unfortunately this year has also been tough in my personal life including family illnesses. I guess if you are around long enough every one
faces adversity. Hopefully everything will turn out well.

In positive news I recently landed a short term gig working with MacDermid Printing. I am helping them catch up with form development; building smartforms and print programs. This job is entirely remote so I get to take a break from the intense travel that freelancing usually demands.

I wrapped up with Northrop Grumman in El Segundo, CA in the early summer. On this project I was able to build a custom package tracking module that could be used via screens or hand held devices (creating bapi's, implementing badi's, using editable ALV grids). I also prototyped a BSP in QM. The NG development team was dedicated to professional developmentby scheduling weekly knowledge transfer sessions (enhancement framework, eCATS, WF, SolMan, etc.). It was refreshing to be part of team that was serious about bringing everyone's skills up to date and for sharing knowledge.

While in the LA area I was able to see a Dodgers game, attend a taping of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, andsaw an improv comedy show at the Groundlings (alumni include Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow, Phil Hartman, Kathy Griffin, Will Forte).

The SAP market this year remains quite challenging. The summer and early fall were very slow for me. In fact I discovered craigslist looking for fun short term gigs. I actually did some modeling and got involved with beer promotions. These jobs were fun and paid surprisingly well.

In the fall I landed an intense short term gig with Kraton Polymers in Houston, TX. I joined at the tail end of the implementation where there was a huge need for help building forms (smartforms and sapscript) for Asia Pacific. I was working around the clock developing/testing the forms and conferencing with business users in Tokyo and Shanghai. I was able to watch maybe 15 minutes of the world series (Go Yankees!).

Fortunately after Kraton I was able to rejoin my old client Boehringer-Ingelheim in Ridgefield, CT until the end of the year helping them complete various tasks. It's very nice to be back (also get to stay with my parents as they are near).

There is still a lot of uncertainty for 2010. If anyone knows of any projects kicking off, please do let me know.

Everyone have a Happy Festivus and Glorious New Year!!! All the best.

I finished up at Ford in Dearborn, MI at the end of the year. This was a great project! I worked with the latest and greatest SAP technologies including the following: ECC6.0, ABAP Objects, the new debugger, enhancement points, XI/PI,CRM, EWM, and Solution Manager. The project was also managed very well with time allocated for prototyping, design, development, testing, functional and technical signoffs, etc (and a little soccer). Ford is an awesome company and they will emerge from this downturn successfully. Try to make your next auto purchase a Ford.

While in the Detroit area I was able to do many fun things including the following: Red Wings hockey game; Lions football game (yes I was a part of the historical 0 and 16 season), took a Second City improv class, Motown Museum, Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village, University of Michigan football game in Ann Arbor, and the Ford Rouge Factory tour (very impressive andclean).

The SAP market has taken a major hit in this economy (less jobs/lower compensation) so the first 2 months of the year were very slow for me. In March I started my current project, a PP implementation (with MRP and plant extensions) at NorthropGrumman in El Segundo, CA. The coast to coast travel is rough but at least I am able to work remotely every other week.

Enjoy the spring and summer!!! All the best.

I finished up at Lockheed Martin Owego at the end of March. I worked quite extensively in the CO and FI modules as well as working with DMS, GOS, and the ALV grid control. It was also good to work in the defense industry (CMM level 5) where the methodology of creating and approving specs is enforced. On the lighter side I was exposed to Japanese cuisine anddiscovered that I like sushi.

Between March and April I took a 9 day trip to China sponsored by the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. It was amazing! We visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. We saw the Great Wall, Forbidden city, an Emperor's tomb, the olympic village, and much more. I even had a custom made suit tailored. The main reason I booked the trip was because of the price - only $1700. Which included air fare, hotels, all meals, and transportation. They are doing another trip in November so if anyone is interested check the web site at www.syracusechamber.com. Anyone can sign up (you don't have to be a member or live in the area).

A few weeks ago I started my current project, an implementation at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. This is a great opportunity as I am working with the latest versions of SAP including ECC6.0, XI/PI, EWM, SCM-APO, CRM, BI, and modulesrelated to the automotive industry (SPM, CDP {custom sap code for Ford}).

Lastly the ABAP course I taught this semester just wrapped up and it was a good experience. I look forward to teaching another.

Enjoy the spring and summer!!! All the best.

I finished up at Boehringer-Ingelheim in Danbury a few weeks ago. BI is truly a great place to work (excellent work environment ie. high-end laptop, nice cubicle; management with integrity; world class technical team; etc.). I learned a lot about plant maintenance and increased my knowledge of abap including a bit of workflow. On a personal note my parents lived near by, so it was wonderful to spend quite a bit of time with them.

Currently, I am working on a 'phase 2' of an implementation for Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY. The first project is a highly complex CO/PS/DMS enhancement which is really interesting. This assignment is semi-local for me as it's about a 2 hour drive from home, though I will be working in other LM locations from time to time (this week I'm in Rockville, MD). One frustration with LM is that they block gmail - so any replies from me will be in the evening.

In other exciting news a local university has asked me to teach a course in ABAP. It's a daunting task, yet there are so many benefits. I look forward to the challenge.

Enjoy the upcoming holidays! All the best.

I finished up at Johnson & Johnson last month. I increased my knowledge of FICO and learned the principles of working in a validated pharmaceutical environment. It was a great experience working for a top notch corporation. However, it did take a while to get used to driving in NJ (no left turns and all gas stations are full service).

Now I am working on a plant maintenance implementation for another pharmaceutical company, Boehringer-Ingelheim, in Danbury, CT. I should be able to work on interfaces involving IDOCS and XI. A side benefit of this project is that the location is only 1 hour away from my parents house, so I'll be able to spend some time with them.

All the best. Stay in touch! (please share a personal email address so that we don't lose contact)

I rolled off of the Lifetime Brands project last month. I strengthened my knowledge of MM, FI, SD, and smartforms including learning some nifty tricks from the lead developer. A nice side benefit of working there was receiving samples of their products. I'll never need another ice cream scoop again. The team is very competent and I wish them the best of luck with future projects.

Now I am working on a multifaceted project in Bridgewater, NJ for Johnson & Johnson. It is looking like an intense FICO job and I am up for the challenge. Unfortunately I do not think I'll be getting any shampoo samples on this gig (or what ever else J&J makes).

All the best.
